Job Summary

The Senior Associate, Preclinical (Assay) will interact closely with R&D gene therapy scientists across the entire AVROBIO preclinical portfolio. Leverage their laboratory bioassay knowledge and/or experience to assist in the preparation, tracking, approval, and finalization of contracts related to ongoing bioassay work occurring at our external CROs. Track contract lifecycles and their associated output, obtain purchase orders, log invoices to streamline the approval process, and assist in management of the internal inventory system. Attend internal scientific and strategic meetings to gain an understanding of the gene therapy field as well as the assay development and sample analysis requirements and timelines for each program.

This position reports to the senior manager in Preclinical Research and Development and resides outside of the laboratory.

Key Responsibilities
  • Monitor and track all stages of agreements with CROs for AVROBIO’s Preclinical Assay development, qualification, validation, and sample analysis work including contract initiation, work progression, data archival, and report finalization.
  • Work with scientists internally to collect scientific details and prepare contract documentation.
  • Work independently with cross-functional teams for the purpose of initiating and completing assay work.
  • Obtain approvals related to the processing of purchase orders and invoices.
  • Maintain record tracking and archival systems.
  • Attend preclinical scientific and strategic program meetings
Minimum Requirements/ Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in related scientific field required.
  • 2(+) years of laboratory assay experience, preferably with qPCR, ELISA, Western Blot, Flow Cytometry, Mass Spectometry, immunohistochemistry, and/or biochemical assays.
  • Excellent communication skills required to interface with internal & external stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to multi-task and stay organized in a fast paced, high volume work environment.
  • Understanding of contract life cycle, purchase orders, and invoice processing strongly preferred.
  • Strong professional, organizational, and multi-tasking skills

  • Strong proficiency in MS Office software (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • MS SharePoint and Smartsheets experience is a plus
