Senior Manager, Supply Chain Logistics

We seek an entrepreneurial and highly motivated supply chain professional with broad logistics and supply chain expertise to help build and grow our supply chain function and capabilities. This role will be instrumental in building processes, procedures and scalable solutions for shipping GMP products and materials throughout AVRO’s global supply network. This position works closely with our Clinical Operations, Manufacturing, Quality, Specialty Couriers, and External Suppliers to coordinate the successful movement of products and materials to meet our production plans and requirements. This role will also be responsible for overseeing AVRO’s GMP storage facilities and 3rd Party Logistics Providers. Additionally, this role will collaboratively help build and support the development and execution of supply chain functions and capabilities (planning, scheduling, packaging, systems) as we continue to grow and build our supply chain.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate, book and manage cold chain shipping activities throughout AVRO’s global supply network. Monitor and communicate shipping status and order information as required to both internal and external stakeholders, close and complete shipment orders and documentation, review temperature data etc.
  • Develop, implement and maintain processes, standard operating procedures and work instructions to enable standardized shipment of products and materials throughout the network
  • Develop and maintain logistical strategies and lane maps for Drug Product shipments to enable the consistent and timely shipment and delivery of patient cells
  • Develop, achieve buy-in for, and implement effective logistics strategies to achieve AVROBIO goals
  • Manage and oversee the relationship, contracts and performance of specialty couriers and storage facilities used in the management of AVROBIO inventory and shipments.  Develop and implement methods and measures for evaluating, managing and reporting on performance
  • Identifies, initiates, and manages cross-functional logistics projects using appropriate project management expertise and methodologies. Develops continuous improvement plans for AVROBIO’s logistics infrastructure, systems, and processes.
  • Lead and support the investigation and resolution of quality related shipping events, and implement corrective actions as appropriate
  • Engage in and support clinical site qualification and initiation visits to ensure sites are trained to successfully execute AVROBIO procedures for the packout, shipment, and traceability of patient cells
  • Define the requirements and strategy for qualifying and validating our shipping solutions used to transport our GMP materials throughout the supply chain
  • Lead and support logistical assessments to enable the start and expansion of clinical programs to various geographical regions
Minimum Requirements/ Qualifications
  • 5+ years of experience in pharmaceutical supply chain with experience in Cold Chain Pharmaceutical Logistics and Good Distribution. Experience with Cell and Gene Therapies preferred
  • Prior experience in GxP regulations, quality systems, and guidance documents with particular focus on packaging and distribution practices
  • Mastery of outsourced warehousing and logistics management
  • Possess excellent attention to detail, project and time management skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities with aggressive timelines.
  • Strong working experience with SharePoint, electronic Quality Management Systems, Visio, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Ability to work both independently and effectively in a collaborative team environment where results are achieved through influence and incorporating multiple points of view.
  • Ability to solve problems by applying a combination of best practices and creative solutions while proactively spotting areas for improvement contributing to a plan for resolution.
