Director / Senior Director FP&A – Finance

The Director/Senior Director of Financial Planning and Analysis will report to and be a strategic partner to the CFO. This is a hand on position and the individual will work cross functionally within AVRO to provide leadership in strategic financial planning, budgeting, the alignment of resources and evaluation of business opportunities to enable the achievement of strategic goals. The position will have responsibility for financial planning and financial modeling, as well as other business analyses to support key company initiatives and objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead company-wide Financial Planning and Analysis process, including annual budget and quarterly financial forecast and cash forecasting
  • Work closely with the Controller and finance operations team to ensure planning inputs and functional reviews are carried out with accuracy and timeliness
  • Work closely with the CFO to craft messages and presentations to senior management and the Board. Preparation of Executive and Board presentations
  • As leader of FP&A ensure process and system consistency and continuous improvement of monthly Budget vs. Actual reporting process
  • Work cross-functionally with the CFO and senior management on the evaluation of strategic and business alternatives
  • Provide hands-on development of financial models to support strategic planning, financing alternatives, business and tax scenarios and other corporate initiatives
  • Analyze and present financial reports in an accurate and timely manner; prepare and consolidate reporting materials; clearly communicate monthly and annual financial performance
  • Develop financial and non-financial key performance indicators. Identify opportunities to improve and streamline existing business processes and decision making
  • Effectively communicate critical financial matters to the CFO and senior executives
  • Coordinate business reviews and implement key follow-ups
  • Work with the CFO to optimize business deliverables, enhance team dynamics and culture
  • Coordinate efforts for company initiatives and partner with other functions and operations leads

Minimum Requirements/Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree, MBA required
  • Minimum 10 -15 years of related industry experience in Corporate Finance, Business Analytics and/or Investment Banking
  • An excellent understanding of the biotechnology industry and the various functional areas; previous experience in financial planning and analysis and operations in a life sciences/biotech company
  • Must present a high degree of professionalism in both written and verbal communication; ability to work effectively with senior executives and the board
  • Proven problem-solving skills and ability to achieve successful outcomes and identify process improvement
  • A strong working knowledge of corporate capital fundraising alternatives and business and tax structures
  • Strong analytical skills with experience evaluating and analyzing complex financing and business initiatives
  • Experience working within a public company environment
  • Experience with M&A, public company and licensing valuation modeling
  • High degree of initiative with the ability to work effectively, both cross-functionally and independently is required
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a team player is essential
  • Excellent computer modeling and presentation skills (Advanced Excel, Word and PowerPoint skills are required)
